SUB AND WAITLIST UPDATES
We’ve had a number of questions about subs, including queries about calling players from other teams (versus players from the Sub List). We’ve also been asked about 13 versus 10 players as the “cap” for calling in subs.
The board met on Oct 6 and spent a long time discussing subs. We recognize the challenges some of you are having finding subs; on the other hand, we want to ensure that players on the Sub List/Waitlist are getting playing opportunities.
Sub Procedure:
The WWHA is opening subbing up for female U18 Wild Players to play in our Borealis division. They will be required to change in the family dressing rooms but we encourage you to recruit them before pulling in players from other teams. We will be adding them to the sub list in the upcoming weeks.
In terms of the waitlist. We are aiming to ensure fairness to those on the waitlist and consider the skill needs for each team. For those who registered within the registration window but did not get drafted to a team, we are going to draw names for who gets the available spots. We are evaluating the skill level needs of the team calling in a new player and all waitlisted individuals within an + 1 of that skill will be put into a hat and pulled from. Once the list of players who registered on time but didn't get Drafted have made it onto teams, we will start pulling from the individuals who registered late. For those late registrants it will be first come-first served as to who gets the open spots.

Call for Aurora Drafters
We have had a lot of people reach out expressing interest in being drafters for the Aurora division. For those wanting to be a drafter please indicate your interest on your registration form (and who your drafting partner is).
Given that we know we will have too many volunteers to draft, we've decided to draw from the pool to select this year's drafters. However, we will still give priority to sponsors who want to draft. The reason: both sponsors and drafters are guaranteed spots on a team, so if a sponsor drafts, it opens up more spaces for players who don't have a guaranteed spot to be picked. We want to be as fair as possible to everyone, while recognizing that some players do get an advantage. More information about the drafting process will be released once registration closes.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Borealis Division
We have received 4 out of 5 Core Team roster submissions for the Borealis division. The fifth team will be made in the Draft by giving the first 10 picks to the 5th team. The Board will review the picks to make sure the skill level of the 5th team is equitably distributed and comparable to the 4 core teams that have been submitted. The Draft will then proceed per normal to complete the Borealis and Aurora teams.
Individual registration for all Borealis, Aurora, Beginner, Substitute, and Shared Position players will be open from August 13th to 20th.
