Registration Information

Missed the Registration Window? New to town? Changed your mind?
If you missed the registration window but are interested in playing in the league, IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO SIGN UP! Team rosters are full but we have a waitlist and waitlisted players are eligible to sub on teams. To register, send an email to [email protected] and the Board will send you a link to the registration form. Players will be added to the waitlist in the order that we receive their requests.

New to Hockey?
There is still space in our Skills Development Division, which starts up on October 2nd. If you'd like to join, send an email to [email protected] and we will help get you registered.

2025/2026 League Registration:
Registration was open from August 13th to August 20th. Players across the Aurora and Borealis leagues, including substitute players, goalies, those interested in sharing a position, beginners, and members of a Core Team were eligible to register for the league.
*Note, the registration link was active between 8AM on August 13 and 4PM on August 20th, 2025.
There are some new options this year so please refer to the FAQ docs and the August newsletter for more information (in the "Recent Updates" tab).
Payment details will be sent out after the Draft. Payments will likely be sent via e-transfer; however, more information to come shortly.

Borealis Core Team Registration:
Core Team submission will open at 8:00AM on Monday July 21st.
One of the team representatives can submit a list of their core players (minimum if 10) via email to [email protected] with the subject line "2025/2026 Borealis Core Team Submission".
Please include the first and last name of each player, their skill level, and their position.
The first five teams submitted will be selected.
Submissions will be accepted until 4:00PM on Monday July 28th.
We have 10 teams for the 2025/2026 season, split into two divisions (Aurora and Borealis).
Aurora Division
  • Aurora will include Levels 1–5 (previously Levels 1–4) with level 1 and 2 being in a skills/development tier depending on registration numbers.
  • Teams will continue to be selected through a full draft format.
  • Registration will open August 13 for one week (August 13-20)
  • The draft will take place on August 27 for both divisions.

Borealis Division
  • Borealis operates in a "submit-a-team" format.
  • Two team reps will submit a core roster of 10 players (Levels 8–10, not including goalies).
  • The first five teams to register will be accepted.
  • Team registration opens July 21 and will be open for one week (July 21-28).
  • Team reps will complete their roster through a draft, selecting a minimum of 5 players and a maximum of 18.
  • Player registration opens August 13th for one week (August 13-20).
  • The draft will take place on August 27 for both divisions.
  • Don't have a team? No problem, you can still register as an individual and will be included in the draft.

Skills & Development:
For the 2025/2026 season, the WWHA is planning to continue offering skills development to help players advance their game. This year, the focus will be on level 1 and 2 players, but there will also be some offerings for those players in the 5-6-7 levels who’d like to be drafted into the Borealis Division.
The details still need to be worked out, but just so you know what we’re thinking, here are our ideas in broad strokes.

Beginner player development:
If registration numbers are high like last year, we anticipate that we’ll cap the draft for the Aurora Division at players ranked 3 and above (or possibly 2 and above). Those who are excluded will be given first opportunity to join player development, which will offer weekly skills, plus games every ~2 weeks. Skills will start in October, and games will get underway in November (to ensure players have time to learn the basics, or polish up their skills, as the case may be) before going into a game. The sessions will be similar to those offered last year, except the plan is to run them for the entire season: they will build on basic skating and puck handling, and the intent will be to help players qualify for the Aurora division.

Who can join beginner skills?
  •  Players who are excluded from the draft based on registration numbers (likely 1’s and possibly 2s)
  •  Players who are drafted into Aurora but want to improve their skills (e.g. maybe you’re a 3 but would like to advance to a 4 or a 5)
Are skills your only option to play if you’re a 1 or a 2?
  •  Nope. Players who sign up for skills can also register as subs and play games in the Aurora division when they call subs.  This will help you advance your skills and expose you to the Aurora players - which will help get you drafted the following year.
You can also sign up for the Jamboree (November) and/or the Rendezvous (February).

Advanced player development:
If you’re in the upper end of the Aurora skill level (5 to 7) and would like to tune up your game so you can get drafted into Borealis, we are looking at dedicating some ice time over Christmas to help you get there. Which dates/how many ice times are still not sorted out: we anticipate there will be interest in having some fun games over Christmas, but if there’s interest in intermediate skills we will set something up to help get you there.

New This Year
  • Players may register as substitutes.
  • Two players may now share a single roster spot.

If you registered aren't on a team, you can play as a sub and be on the wait list.

Jersey Deposits

We are NOT having a jersey deposit this season.

This year, you will get your jersey at the first game from your drafter. At the end of the year, you are expected to return your jersey to said drafter. Should you not, you will have to pay a $100 fine and if we do not get the jersey back you will be unable to play in the league the following year.

Ice Times

Our season will be starting early this year with ice times scheduled to start mid-September.
More information regarding ice time will be provided in August.
